Presidential Sandwich

We took advantage of a break in baseball tournaments and Presidents' Day for a quick weekend in Monterey.

On Saturday we rode south along the coast.

Beautiful weather.

The next day I rode solo up into Fort Ord.

I enjoyed the solitude and freedom of riding on the closed roads.

I have been waiting to see a salamander, but so far it hasn't happened.

The roads and trails feel endless.

There is so much to look at.

Towards the end of my Fort Ord loop, the wind really started to kick up. When I got close enough to the bay, I saw the whitecaps. I knew I was in for a long ride back.

It was slow going and the sand was blowing everywhere.

I was barely moving forward at times due to the headwind and deep sand.

All told it was 28.5 miles in tough conditions.

Later that day we walked to the aquarium.

It was a good trip. Tomorrow we head back to school and jobs, working towards the next opportunity to share an adventure.

Later.
